To the Players, Families, Coaches, Volunteers, and Supporters of the Abbotsford Female Hockey Association,

As the newly appointed President of the Abbotsford Female Hockey Association, I am incredibly excited and honoured to begin this journey alongside such a passionate and dedicated hockey community. Our association continues to grow because of the commitment of our players, families, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who work tirelessly to create positive experiences for everyone involved.

For the 2026 – 27 season, our focus is simple:

We want every player — regardless of age or skill level — to have the opportunity to improve, build confidence, create friendships, and develop a lifelong love for the game. Hockey provides so many valuable lessons beyond the ice: leadership, resilience, sportsmanship, accountability, and community. Our goal is to ensure every player feels supported and encouraged throughout their season.

The upcoming season brings exciting opportunities for growth within our association. We are committed to:

-Providing positive and inclusive development environments

-Supporting our coaches and volunteers with strong resources and communication

-Encouraging respect for teammates, officials, coaches, and opponents

-Continuing to grow female hockey within our community

-Creating memorable experiences both on and off the ice

Most importantly, we want this season to be enjoyable for the players, parents, coaches and volunteers. Hockey should be a place where players are excited to come to the rink, challenge themselves, compete hard, and celebrate successes together.

AFHA families are a big part of the success. To the families and volunteers — thank you. Your time, energy, and support are what make this association possible. Whether you are coaching, managing, organizing events, helping at tournaments, or cheering in the stands, your contributions have a tremendous impact on our players and our community, and I look forward to seeing the volunteerism continue.

As we open registration next week, I encourage everyone to approach the year with positivity, respect, and a team-first attitude. Together, we can continue building a strong culture that makes the Abbotsford Female Hockey Association a place our players are proud to represent.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the rink and sharing an exciting season ahead.

Best wishes for a fun, successful, and rewarding 2026–27 season!

Sincerely,

Joel Byron
