Gear & Equipment Tips
Start with a proper fit. Hockey equipment should fit comfortably and provide adequate protection without restricting movement. Avoid buying gear that is too large with the expectation that your player will grow into it.

Second-hand gear can be a great option! Hockey equipment can be expensive, especially for growing players. Gently used equipment can help keep costs down, provided it is in good condition, fits properly and meets applicable safety requirements.
Some places to check include: Sports Replay in Langley, If you purchase or get gear off Facebook Marketplace or from another family, make sure it is safe and approved.
Label everything. Hockey dressing rooms can get busy! Labeling your player's equipment, water bottle, and other belongings can help prevent items from getting lost or mixed up.
Keep gear clean and dry. Allow equipment to air out after practices and games to help keep it fresh and ready for the next ice time. Please! Hot Tip: Hockey Gear CAN go in the washing machine!
Ask questions! If you're unsure about what your player needs, reach out to your team manager or the AFHA for guidance. Our hockey community is here to help families get started and feel confident at the rink.

Having the right gear is just the beginning.
The most important things your player can bring to the rink that you can't buy in a sporting goods store are a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a love for the game!
