Dear AFHA Members,
As we prepare for the upcoming season, we would like to share several important updates
and provide clarification on a few matters that have recently generated questions within our
membership.

Rep Programs
After careful consideration, the AFHA Board has made the difficult decision to withdraw our
Rep team declarations for the U13, U15, and U18 divisions. As a result, AFHA will not be
fielding Rep teams for the 2026/27 season.
This was not a decision made lightly. However, we felt it was important to communicate this
decision as early as possible to allow players who wish to continue pursuing Rep hockey
adequate time to register for tryouts with neighbouring associations.
Any player currently registered for AFHA Rep tryouts will automatically receive a refund of
their Rep tryout fee. Questions regarding refunds can be directed to
registrar@abbotsfordfemalehockey.com. We understand this news may be disappointing
for some families and appreciate your understanding as we continue to evaluate what
opportunities we can sustainably provide for our athletes.

Communication Update
Earlier this week, the Board became aware that our previous email account,
board@abbotsfordfemalehockey.com, was discontinued in early June. As a result, emails
sent to that address during that time were unfortunately not received by the Board.
If you contacted us and did not receive a response, we ask that you please resend your
inquiry to executive@abbotsfordfemalehockey.com. We sincerely apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience as we work to address
any missed communications.

Clarification Regarding AMHA
Recently, we have heard several rumours regarding a potential amalgamation between
AFHA and Abbotsford Minor Hockey Association (AMHA). We would like to clearly state that
AFHA and its Executive currently have no plans to amalgamate with AMHA.
The Board believes strongly in the value of a female-focused hockey program that provides
a supportive environment where girls can develop their skills, build confidence, and grow
both as athletes and as individuals. We remain committed to providing those opportunities
for our players and families.

Looking Ahead
While some of these updates may not be the news some were hoping for, the Board remains
excited about the future of AFHA and Aviators hockey. Our focus remains on creating a
positive hockey experience, supporting player development, and providing a fun, inclusive,
and memorable season for all participants.

We thank our players, families, volunteers, and supporters for their continued commitment
to AFHA, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the rink this season.
